Thailand's
southern resort province of
Phuket and the national capital,
Bangkok, have been voted
among Asia's top five holiday destinations, according to the TIME Readers’
Travel Choice Awards 2005 survey.
The awards seek to honour the best in Asia’s travel industry, from airlines
and airports to hotels and destinations, as identified by the magazine’s
readers through an annual survey.
A total of 2,193 individuals responded to the survey conducted from April 18
- June 24. Phuket and Bangkok were ranked second and third respectively in
the most favourite holiday destinations category, behind the
Indonesian
island of Bali.
Meanwhile,
Phuket’s Banyan Tree has been voted as first runner up in the Asia’s
most favourite resort hotels category.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand says the award reflects both the recovery
of Phuket and other Andaman coast tourist centres in the aftermath of last
December's Indian Ocean tsunami and the restoration of tourists' confidence
in the region.

Bridge on the River Kwai Tour
Fascinating, nostalgic and memorable sums up this day tour to the
Kanchanaburi province. The famous bridge and the beginning of the 'Death
Railway' which lies some 1 mile outside town are a poignant reminder of the
thousands of POW’s and forced laborers who lost their lives in the Second
World War. This trip has it all and is the ultimate tour in Bangkok! |
